What HanBuddy measures — and what stays separate
We use limited campaign measurement to understand which public pages bring guests to HanBuddy. Optional behavioral analytics requires your choice, and meetup application data follows a separate service-delivery process.
1. Limited measurement on public pages
On the home, About, event, and this privacy page, Google Analytics receives one limited cookieless page view even when optional analytics is not accepted. It contains the site origin, page path, referrer origin, and only these campaign parameters:
utm_source · utm_medium · utm_campaign · utm_id · utm_content · utm_term
- Other query parameters and URL fragments are removed.
- Campaign values that appear to contain personal information are excluded.
- UTM values are not saved in cookies, local storage, our server, Google Sheet, or Discord.
- We do not link this campaign page view to an application.
Campaign links must never put names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other personal data in UTM values.
2. Optional analytics after you accept
If you accept, Google Analytics can measure clicks, section views, language changes, and application progress. Meta Pixel can measure page views and selected high-intent actions to help us understand ad reach. Google Signals and ad-personalization signals stay disabled in our tag configuration.
Providers: Google Privacy Policy and Meta Privacy Policy.
3. Meetup applications are separate
Before you accept optional analytics, the `/apply/` page sends no Google or Meta measurement. When you submit the form, the answers needed to run the meetup are sent to a team-managed Google Sheet and a private Discord notification. This is application processing, not analytics.
- The application does not send or store browser referrer or UTM values.
- Your self-reported “How did you hear about us?” answer stays with the application and is not an automatic campaign identifier.
- Application data is kept for 6 months after the meetup, then removed from both the Sheet and Discord.
- An assigned buddy receives only the information needed for the meetup day.

4. Your choices
You can accept, reject, or change optional analytics anytime through Cookie settings. Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track (DNT) suppresses the limited cookieless page view unless you have explicitly granted analytics.
